My new 3.5 hp Tohatsu MFS3.5CS is just right for my 1960 15 ft square stern Old Town wood/canvas canoe. I race with a 6 hp MFS6CS on my Cocktail Class racer. Our racing association loves these motors – easy starts, dependable power.

I bought one of this 3.5 HP from these folks a few years back and love it. The company is great to work with and is perfect the eng is perfect for what was designed for. The first time I used it I kept wondering when it was going to run out of gas. Now I take an extra quart of gas as backup. My only wish is it had a reverse gear!

This is the 20 inch model used as a kicker motor on a 15 foot Maverick flats boat with a 40 HP Yamaha, medium to heavy load 800 pounds more or less. GPS shows maximum speed of 4 MPH. This is with the main motor still in the water. Good enough to get home. I would strongly recommend the 20 inch shaft (long) as a kicker. I tried a 6 HP Yamaha as a kicker with short shaft (15 inches). However with the cavitation only achieved 3.5 MPH so the extra horse power was useless. The outboard bracket is a fixed length and only extends about 3 inches from the transom .
